The Virgin Birth of Jesus

Several years ago Larry King, the well-known talk show host, was asked who he would like to interview if he had his pick from all of history. His answer was Jesus Christ. The questioner paused and said, “What is the one question you would like to ask Him?” Larry King answered, “I would ask Him if He indeed was virgin born, because the answer to that would define history for me.”

In one sense, Larry King was right. Because the birth of Jesus Christ is the key which unlocks human history. If Jesus is who the Bible says that He is, then His life and work does indeed define history.

I think the Virgin Birth of Jesus, as pointed out, is a central Doctrine of Christianity and that is why it is so important to be aware of some of these modern "translations" of Holy Writ.

I've noticed that some translations use "young woman" in Isaiah 7:14, instead of "virgin."

I've read the reasons for the change, but to me at least, they don't hold water and I consider it an attack on the Virgin Birth.

It's not much of a sign if a young woman gets pregnant and has a son. It is another thing if a VIRGIN has a Son.

Larry King is a great interviewer, but like most people that are unregenerate, the concept of the Virgin Birth is nonsense.

I mean, to accept that story is to forever be a changed person, one who understands that miracles are nothing to the Sovereign God of the Universe to perform.

I suspect one of the reasons that the Virgin Birth is denied by so many is that when you believe in evolutionism, that makes it impossible to accept the miraculous. Evolution, of course, leaves no room for miracles, and has to cling to their dogma of time plus chance, in a mechanistic universe.

God said it, that settles it!!
