Pray for Lakeshore Baptist Church

Pastor Don Elbourne has reported that the Hancock County Planning and Zoning Board recently voted to require Lakeshore Baptist Church to remove all temporary structures from their property by May 31st. Under Don's leadership, the church has been responding to the needs of that community in Waveland, Mississippi since it was hit by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Though the church lost all of its structures, it has delayed rebuilding them, choosing rather to meet in temporary structures, so that they could help rebuild homes in their community.

For the last 3.5 years, they have stayed with that effort and have coordinated thousands of volunteers and marshaled untold amounts of money to help people get back on their feet by supplying food, clothing, supplies and shelter in the Name of Jesus. One of the neighbor's who has been blessed by these efforts is Mrs. Redford. Watch her testimony here.

Pray for Pastor Elbourne and the church as they seek to respond with wisdom and Gospel-grace to this ruling. If you are able to support their efforts financially, let me encourage you to do so. Though the board's decision may cause Lakeshore to take a different approach to its ministry in the community, they will no doubt continue to need volunteers to come assist in the rebuilding effort. Our church has sent 3 teams and each group has come back wanting to return. Consider going to lend a hand. It is a worthy effort, and the Gospel is going forth in word and deed.

Thank you Bro. Tom,
Who knows what the Lord has in store for Lakeshore? Although this might seem like an obstacle, it is just another opportunity to see our Soverign work wonders before His children.

Please pray for Lakeshore! Bro. Don did a wonderful job of preaching on the Love of God at the Deep South Regional Founders Conference on Friday and then presented a great PowerPoint about the ongoing work to our attendees during the fellowship time. We didn't even know that this was brewing down in Lakeshore at the time.

Please support Lakeshore! Send money and people to help in the ongoing efforts. Although the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board and other organizations have declared the relief effort on the Mississippi Gulfcoast over, they apparently don't consider Lakeshore community a part of the Mississippi Gulfcoast. Lakeshore has rehabbed hundreds of homes and built 33 from the ground up. They need you to give and support to continue. They wanted to rebuild their community first before they rebuilt the church building, but that might not be an option. This is an opportunity to make it bigger and better than before.

Don't know if this link will work, but it is a great video of Don and Lakeshore and the problem they are having.

Thanks Tom,

After the media gets it's mileage out of an event like Katrina, it's easy to forget that the need continues long after the news dies down. We go on with our normal lives and assume things are back to normal. Thanks for keeping these needs on our minds. I will be working to take a team there as a result. May God bless Lakeshore.

We got in touch with Lakeshore and there is still mucho work to do. We are taking a group of men from Grace Church of Lake City over there April 6-10 and I would encourage everyone to plan a trip to help. They could not make it any easier to plan it. Just give them a call and schedule it.
