Pray for Tom Brady

Several people have contacted me off line about my response to Tom Brady's comments in his recent 60 Minutes interview and have promised to pray for him. Since New England is playing Saturday night for an undefeated season, and doing so in front of what could be a record setting television audience, this seems to be a great opportunity to pray concertedly for him. If you watch the game, ask the Lord to stir him up to keep seeking the answers to his questions and to give him no rest until he comes to rest in the Lord Jesus Christ, his Savior.

Encourage others to join in the effort. May the Lord put people in his life that will guide him that is found in knowing Jesus (Matthew 13:44).

Several people have mentioned Brady's interview to me, and I am thankful that you have used this medium to provide the gospel and a plea to Brady to turn to Christ. Christ's word will not return void.

Though I dislike the Patriots, and was fearful that the perfect season would cause more pride than humility in Brady, I trust that in this magnificent accomplishment, Brady will even more clearly see the vanity of all that the world has to offer. I heard Brady say the same thing after his first Super Bowl ('is this all there is?'), and with each of his milestones he seems to echo that even louder.

I was also reminded of Brady when I read this from Samuel Rutherford:

O, pity for evermore that there should be such an one as Christ Jesus, so boundless, so bottomless, and so incomparable in infinite excellency, and sweetness, and so few take Him! O, ye poor dry and dead souls, why will ye come hither with your toom vessels and your empty souls to this huge, and fair, and deep, and sweet well of life, and fill all your toom vessels? O, that Christ should be so large in sweetness and worth, and we so narrow, pinched, so ebb, and so void of all happiness, and yet men will not take Him! They lose their love miserably, who will not bestow it upon this lovely One.

My prayer, with yours, is that the Lord will open Brady's eyes to the true riches of Christ Jesus.

Thank you for the post.
