Theological, Historical, and Pastoral Reflections
Great link. Thanks for that, Tom. I was wondering, if you don't mind me asking a question...is there any reason that you have removed Wade Burleson from the links? All the blogs I read are listed on your right column, so at work, I can have the links quick at any computer. I didn't see him there and was wondering if there was a reason. Btw, thanks for fixing the pyro link!!!Thanks again for all you do. Ron
Ron:I didn't remove Wade from the links. I have many blogging friends to whom I have never linked. I have considered greatly expanding my links at some point in the future. No doubt, there are lots of good blogs out there and my links do not exhaust that list. Press on,tom
I may not be the sharpest pencil in the drawer, but I have no clue what he was trying to say in the post.Been around Baptists all of my life and very, very few ever would think of someone leaving a baptsit church as an apostate... a backslider maybe, but not an apostate :) Seriously I'm just not sure his point.I agree about the need for the integrity in church membership resolution (I'd make it a law, but we are Baptists afterall).
Been around Baptists all of my life and very, very few ever would think of someone leaving a baptsit church as an apostate... a backslider maybe, but not an apostate :) Seriously I'm just not sure his point.A. It's satire, what part about that didn't you get, brother?B. But it's also true, given the way the SBC counts its members.C. Actually, I started to change "apostate" to "Presbyterian," but couldn't bring myself to do so.D. And, I've known some Baptist churches that, if a person left a "conservative" SBC church for a "moderate" one, they were called a backslider or apostate.E. And let's not forget the anti-Presbyterian rhetoric we've witnessed from some on the blogs in times past. Resolution 5? Feh, those who opposed it are crypto-Presbyterians. Calvinists? Antinomians. The list could be multiplied, the point, of course being that when everything cashes out, "apostate" or something close to it lies in the background somewhere.
Just didn't get your satire. Thanks for clearing it up.
