Another Baptist Press article

Tammi Ledbetter has another article published by Baptist Press today. As with the previous one, I find it to be balanced and fair. There is still no mention of the exact reason that the debate was cancelled--sabotaged is a better word. I have tried to explain to people that the debate was to be about Calvinism. The cancellation was about integrity--or lack thereof. Here it is in a nutshell: We had a signed agreement. All four debaters agreed to specific terms. Those terms were set aside completely by the moderator 12 days before the debate. We refused to submit to this kind of subterfuge.

The article, nevertheless, is worth reading.

Thanks for making the spin stop before it gets bigger and worse than it already has become!

I've been interested in the Founders for some time now. This is my first comment to a blog,so go easy on me fellows. We need to pray for the Caners tht God would open their eyes, otherise they can not see the truth of the Doctrines of Grace. I know, I came out of the same bunch they are in now. Their biggest problem is that they do not believe in Total Innablity. I may be wrong, but you cannot be consistant in your theology by believing only in some of the points of Calvinism. You have to believe them all, or nothing.
Keep up the good work. God knows your heart, and will reward you accordingly.

In His Grace.

Tom,

Please excuse me for going off topic. I want to publicly thank you and Dr. Nettles for being " Real Heroes". When I call you both to ask doctrinal and history questions you always make time to help. Thanks for your assistance today! Your church and students are so blessed by God to have men who have been made willing to shepherd and teach for the glory of God rather than being worried about climbing the SBC ladder. Thanks ! One last thing( Dr. Ascol) I would look up to you more if you used better judgement than the college football team that you cheer for( Texas AM). Go with Auburn( The SEC best)!

My take is if the article does not expose the truth (i.e. the real reason behind the cancellation) it can be neither balanced nor fair by definition.

Dr. Ascol

Has this lady actually interviewed you or Dr. White or the Caners? Or are these just harvested from blog comments?

Web research is fine but articles like these should include some one on one.

Ok already. Now turn the other cheek and get back on that horse and start negotiations for another debate date. How long must the lamentings go on?

Philness:

Two debate dates have already been offerred to the Dr. Caner:

1. November 2nd, 2006 at the Ballroom of the Hotel Royal Plaza in Walt Disney World. The proposals have been sent repeatedly to both men both privately and publically. Neither has responded.

2. October 13th or 14th, 2007 in Seattle WA. The proposals have been sent repeatedly to both men both privately and publically. Neither has responded.

I would be more than happy to arrange a fair, moderated, and substantial debate with all four parties as prescribed and agreed to originally in the Liberty fiasco (Prior to Dr. O'Donnell's improper intervention).

I honestly pray that Dr. Caner will respond to the call to debate the issue. I have offered proposals to both Dr. Caner and Dr. White going back to October 2005. Dr. White has responded in the affirmative on all the proposals.

Interesting - after the first article I wrote to Tammi Reed Ledbetter and explained this:

"We had a signed agreement. All four debaters agreed to specific terms. Those terms were set aside completely by the moderator 12 days before the debate. We refused to submit to this kind of subterfuge."

I even gave her the direct link to the interview by the students at Liberty with brother White, that he has posted here.

To see the second article mention the reason for the cancellation after this information was sent - as "unresolved disputes among the four men over various ground rules for the event." is just a little disappointing, considering the truth of the matter - that it was not simply a matter of "unresolved disputes".

Here are some humor pictures of "Calvinist terrorist" charged by Ergun Caner.

sorry Dr Ascol, they did not consider you to be such a terrorist to include a picture of you.
